ABOUT

Christy Denny

I began working with Dr. Mark Shapiro in June 2003 as his Practice Administrator. Within the first six months, we achieved greater revenue than in the previous 18 months, and from there, we continued to grow into a multi-million-dollar business. In 2011, as part of Dr. Shapiro’s retirement plan, we merged with Cornerstone Healthcare. In 2016, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center acquired Cornerstone Healthcare, and a few years later, Atrium Health in Charlotte acquired WFBMC. Today, we are part of Advocate Health, though we continue to operate under the name Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist as the Southeast Region of Advocate Health.

Over the past 20 years and throughout this entire process, I have held a leadership role, gaining valuable
experience in managing the finances for both a solo practice and a large corporation that now spans multiple states. My journey has provided me with a deep understanding of financial operations at all levels of business.

When I first began working with Dr. Shapiro in 2003, I promised to remain by his side until he decided to retire. He retired in June 2024, and now, I am excited to embark on a new chapter, seeking opportunities that allow me to apply my skills and knowledge while being closer to home.
